MLS on Loan: Dom Dwyer, Orlando City continue to dominate in USL PRO

Dom Dwyer and Orlando City celebrate

Orlando City SC are fast becoming the model franchise for USL PRO teams to follow. The Central Florida club's MLS ambitions are well documented, but while they make headlines regarding their future, the Sporting Kansas City affiliates continue to get things done in the present.

SKC loanee Dom Dwyer continued his goalscoring tear with a brace against the Harrisburg City Islanders on Friday in a 2-2 draw. The SKC loanee now has 12 goals in 10 games, doubling his closest competition.

A day later Saturday, Orlando City downed New England Revolution affiliate Rochester Rhinos 1-0 to remain in first place. The Lions have amassed an impressive record of 7-1-2, good enough to put them five points clear of the Charleston Battery.

In the Harrisburg draw, the City Islanders made good use of their Philadelphia Union loanees, with four of them seeing time on the field. Greg Jordan and Don Anding both started and went the full 90, with Anding notching an assist. Christhian Hernandez also started and put in an 80-minute shift causing havoc for the Orlando backline.

In NASL action, the Carolina RailHawks again put midfielder Enzo Martinez to good use. The Real Salt Lake loanee played the final 34 minutes, but was unable to help rally the league leaders in a 2-0 to the Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday. Forward Kellen Gulley has been on loan to the Silverbacks from the Chicago Fire since April, but has yet to make it on the field.

Another RSL player on loan found minutes, as goalkeeper Jeff Attinella went the full 90 for Ft. Lauderdale as they fell 3-1 to the San Antonio Scorpions on Saturday. Attinella, who made four saves and was given plenty to do, has slotted right into a starting spot, immediately fortifying the Strikers' backline.
