MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends and fines Columbus Crew forward Jairo Arrieta

Jairo Arrieta, Columbus Crew

This week was a busy one when it comes to MLS Disciplinary Committee sanctions. And there's another suspension to tack on to the list.

Columbus Crew forward Jairo Arrieta was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount on Friday "for violent conduct that endangered the safety of his opponent" during the Crew's home loss against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, May 11. Arrieta struck Rapids defender Drew Moor in the face in the 18th minute of the match.

While Arrieta will serve the first match of the suspension on Saturday in the Trillium Cup matchup against Toronto FC (5 p. ET, TSN and Univision Deportes), the MLS Players Union will be appealing the second game of the suspension.
