Goalkeeper Milan Borjan (above) could be just one game away from a cup final.

It’s been an average league season for Borjan and Turkish club Sivasspor, but they picked up a 2-1 win over Trabzonspor in the first leg of their Turkish Cup semifinal. The second leg takes place early next month.

They were back in action this past Sunday in the league as they tied Kayerispor 1-1 and are in 12th place in the Süper Lig.

In the Netherlands, it was a rebound week for Atiba Hutchinson and PSV Eindhoven as the team bounced back into a Champions League place with their 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Saturday. Combined with Vitesse Arnhem’s loss over the weekend, the win means PSV move back into second place and are four points back of first-place Ajax.

As Kevin McKenna and FC Köln battle for the last promotion spot in Germany’s 2.Bundesliga, every dropped point could be catastrophic, and Köln dropped two of them on Monday with a 1-1 draw with MSV Duisberg. The hosts slipped two points back of Kaiserslautern, who were victorious on the weekend.

Kaiserslautern currently hold down the promotion playoff spot in third place, with just four games remaining in the league for both teams.

The promotion push for Rob Friend and 1860 Munich seems to be at an end, as they dropped their second game in a row. Friend scored for the second time in as many games but 1860 lost 2-1 to FSV Frankfurt and are in sixth place.

Meanwhile, at the bottom, the relegation of Julian de Guzman and SSV Jahn Regensburg is just about complete as they lost 2-1 to Ingolstadt last Friday.

In England, David Edgar hasn’t seen much of the field lately for Burnley in the second-division Championship, but he made a good case for more playing time as he came on at the start of the second half and scored a last-minute equalizer in their 1-1 draw with already-promoted Cardiff City. Burnley sit in 15th place.

In Scotland, former Houston Dynamo defender Andre Hainault finally made his first start since joining Ross County of the Premier League. Hainault played the full 90 minutes as Ross tied St. Johnstone 2-2. Ross are in fifth place.

In Cyprus, Mike Klukowski and APOEL could be just days away from securing the 1. Division title and qualification to the Champions League as they beat AEK Larnaca 1-0. They’re eight points clear of the second-place team in the Championship Round.

Down at the bottom, it looks as though Issey Nakajima-Farran and Alki may be safe as they won for the second weekend in a row in the Relegation Round. Nakajima-Farran played 62 minutes on Sunday as Alki beat Nea Salamis 3-1 on Sunday and are eight points clear of Salamis, who are in the relegation spot with three games remaining.

In Norway, Tosaint Ricketts played the whole game on Sunday as Sadnes Ulf ran their unbeaten streak to three games as they tied Honefoss 1-1. They have five points through five games in the new Eliteserien season.

In Sweden’s Superattan, it was a first victory of the season for Nik Ledgerwood and Hammarby as they beat Örebro 2-1 to move all the way up to third in the very early going in Sweden’s second-highest league.

In Uruguay’s Primera División, Lucas Cavallini remains on three goals in the Clausura as his club Juventud de las Piedras have only mustered 10 points in nine games and sit in 13th place. Cavallini came off the bench in the 58th minute on Sunday as Juventud tied Wanderers 1-1.
