American Exports: Hoffenheim still not sure when Daniel Williams will return from ankle knock

Hoffenheim's Danny Williams

STUTTGART, Germany – Hoffenheim midfielder Daniel Williams remains on the mend following an ankle injury, with the club saying it is unsure when he will be back in full training.

The US international suffered the setback while attempting to regain match fitness with the reserves two days after missing Hoffenheim's April 5 Bundesliga contest with an illness.

"The injury happened when Danny stepped in and played with the Under-23 team two weeks ago against Elversberg," Hoffenheim press officer Holger Tromp told MLSsoccer.com. "He had to be substituted late in the second half. [He could return to] team training possibly this week, but we're not sure yet."

Williams has worked 21 league contests for the club this term, notching a goal and eight yellow cards. Hoffenheim are currently three points shy of the survival playoff place and six short of the safety zone with only four matches remaining on the season.
