AMSTERDAM – A handful of Americans took part in Monday night football overseas, with Michael Bradley enjoying a steady outing as AS Roma rallied for a 1-1 home draw with archrivals Lazio.
Again earning his Il Generale nickname, Bradley did much of the midfield dirty work that allowed the hosts to own 61 percent of the ball during the match. The result kept Roma three points shy of their fifth-place nemeses, who hold the last Europa League berth.
Turning to Turkey, Bursaspor midfielder Maurice Edu putting on a splendid display as the home side strolled past nearby rivals Besiktas 3-0.
The US midfielder was among the game's standouts, providing rock solid two-way play from whistle to whistle. Edu also ended the win sporting the captain's armband after accepting it from the departing Tuncay Sanli in the 85th minute. The win, Bursaspor's third in a row at home, moved them level on points with Turkey's last Europa League slot.

Up north in Sweden's Allsvenskan, Alejandro Bedoya worked a lukewarm full shift as Helsingborg settled for a 1-1 share at promoted Öster. The visitors extended their league unbeaten streak to 11 games, dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Brian Span's Djurgården saw their home match with Mjällby suspended in the 37th minute when Mjällby defender Gbenga Arokoyo was struck by a pear thrown from the stands.
In Germany's second division, John Anthony Brooks held down central defense as Hertha Berlin went four points clear at the top with a 3-0 home victory over second0place Braunschweig. The Blue-Whites can now clinch their return to the Bundesliga with a win at Ingolstadt on Friday.
