American Exports: Maurice Edu expected back soon, despite injury

AMSTERDAM – Bursaspor midfield ace Maurice Edu is expected to rejoin full training in midweek, with the club hoping he can recover from a minor groin injury before Monday's key visit from nearby rivals Besiktas.

The US international picked up the knock while working a full shift in last Tuesday's CONCACAF World Cup qualifying draw at Mexico. Though Edu missed out on the weekend Süper Lig loss at Kasımpasa, the Green Crocodiles expect him to be back in working order shortly.

"He will train today or tomorrow," Bursaspor spokesman Hüseyin Gedik told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "It's not serious."

Edu has played nine league games and a pair in the Turkish Cup since arriving on loan from Stoke City in January. Saturday's loss put them three points back of a Europa League slot and nine out of a Champions League berth with seven matches remaining.
