MLS Disciplinary Committee fines, suspends Colorado captain Drew Moor for violent conduct vs. LA

Drew Moor, Colorado Rapids (2013)

The MLS Disciplinary Committee on Thursday suspended Drew Moor an additional match and also fined him an undisclosed amount after reviewing the incident involving the Colorado Rapids defender and the LA Galaxy's Marcelo Sarvas this past Saturday night.

The Rapids captain received a red card in the 48th minute after he flung his left arm backward and made contact with Sarvas' face. The play not only left Colorado with 10 men, but it also led to a penalty kick which was converted by LA's Mike Magee.

The Disciplinary Committee santioned Moor "for violent conduct away from the play that endangered the safety of his opponent."

RAPIDS' MOOR: "I'm disappointed in myself"

“I let my team down tonight,” Moor told MLSsoccer.com. “I was moving kind of backwards into position and he kind of stepped in my way and gave me a little bump and just kind of a stupid moment, I reacted and kind of put my arm back in his direction and obviously made contact.

“I’m disappointed in myself. That’s not me. That’s not who I am and that’s not what this club and organization is about.”

Moor, who was already set to miss Saturday's upcoming match against Portland because of the red-card suspension, will serve the additional match on April 6 against Rocky Mountain Cup rivals Real Salt Lake.
