American Exports: Jermaine Jones' agent pours cold water on rumored MLS move

Jermaine Jones with Schalke

AMSTERDAM – The agent for Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones has poured cold water on a report claiming the US international was pushing for an MLS switch.

The 31-year-old, signed through the end of the 2013-14 season, has previously spoken of a desire to play in America. However, he is still a regular Miners starter and among the club's highest-paid players.

"Jermaine has always stated he wants to end his career in MLS, but obviously won't do it until it makes sense financially," Jones representative Adam Davis told MLSsoccer.com.

The report also suggested that Schalke were set to open extension talks with the veteran. On the campaign, Jones has two goals and seven assists in 28 games across all competitions, and is the team's second-highest rated midfielder in Bundesliga play by leading German publication Kicker.

Currently shy of the league's last Champions League slot by mere goal differential, Schalke get back to work with a Saturday visit from Hoffenheim.
