MLS Fantasy: Sporting KC's Graham Zusi the best player in FS:M to start 2013 -

There were four more goals scored last round even though three teams were on a bye. As a result, we have our first 5-4-1 Dream Team formation of 2013. Here’s the breakdown:

Dream Team formation: (5-4-1)

Top Player: Glauber, Bill Hamid – 10 points

Defenders (5)

Gláuber ($5.0m) scored a great header to put the Columbus Crew up 1-0 against San Jose, but Justin Morrow’s ($5.0m) left-footer was equally as nice, if not better. George John ($5.5m) scored for FC Dallas in his nine-point effort, while Jalil Anibaba and Jeff Parke rounded out the top five with eight-point tallies. (Five other defenders had eight points – you can view them here).

Midfielders (4)

All four midfielders on this week’s Dream Team tallied eight points. Sporting KC’s Graham Zusi ($9.8m) hasn’t played his best ball, but he’s still the No. 1 overall player in FS:M. He’s owned by a staggering 40.1 percent of managers (37.5 percent this time last week) and currently leads all players in multiple categories. Brad Davis ($8.9m) scored a goal in Houston’s 3-2 loss to FC Dallas, and Sébastien Le Toux ($8.3m) and Steve Zakuani ($7.8m) notched an assist and multiple bonus points in their outings.

Forwards (1)

Federico Higuaín ($9.2m) continues to cement his status as one of the most consistent forwards in MLS. Remember, Higuaín is a set-piece specialist, something we can only say about a handful of forwards. Currently, he leads all forwards with 11 crosses (next closest has just three) and trails only Zusi (21) for the most overall. He’s first among forwards in key passes with nine and is one of two forwards on the Overall Dream Team at this point.

Goalkeeper – Bill Hamid (D.C. United)

Hamid is the third straight goalkeeper to go on the road and earn a clean sheet. Hamid’s 26 total points are the second-best among all players in FS:M and he leads the next closest goalkeeper by nine points.
