Matt Pickens, Colorado Rapids (March 10, 2013)

SANDY, Utah – Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens suffered a broken left forearm during a mid-air collision early in the team’s Rocky Mountain Cup showdown with Real Salt Lake on Saturday, and was immediately rushed to the hospital for further evaluation.

Pickens and RSL defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe collided when Pickens made a save on an RSL corner kick in the fourth minute of the match. The Colorado goalkeeper remained on the ground receiving treatment for several minutes before he was helped off the field.

Watson-Siriboe was whistled for a foul and issued a yellow card on the play.

Pickens was replaced by backup Clint Irwin, who made his MLS debut in the match. He was picked up by the club in February.
