American Exports: Clarence Goodson solid in Danish Cup semi, Oguchi Onyewu watches Malaga win

Clarence Goodson with Brondby

AMSTERDAM – Clarence Goodson put in a solid full shift as Brøndby rallied for a 1-1 home leg draw against DBU-Pokalen (Danish Cup) semifinal foe Esbjerg on Wednesday.

The US defender tallied six area clearances and a saving tackle, helping the hosts stay in it until Jan Stryger Larsen's 73rd-minute spot kick knotted the game. The Lads from the Western Outskirts, who've won six Danish Cups to date, will travel to Esbjerg for the return leg on April 18.

Meanwhile, Oguchi Onyewu watched from the stands as Málaga fought back from a first-leg loss to reach the Champions League quarterfinals with a 2-0 home victory over 10-man Porto, advancing 2-1 on aggregate. The Anchovies, who will not be allowed to play in Europe next season due to financial troubles, will learn their next opponent in Friday's draw.
