The threat of a potent blizzard could force Saturday’s match between the Colorado Rapids and Philadelphia Union to be shifted to 3 pm ET Sunday, with a decision set for Saturday morning, according to a Rapids club official.
With 18 inches of snow and strong winds in the forecast for Saturday’s Rapids home opener at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6 p.m. ET, MLS Live), the Rapids, Union and MLS have been in contact about how to proceed with the threat of the oncoming storm.

The Union have arrived in Denver and the two teams have already agreed on a 3 pm ET (1 pm MT) Sunday kickoff if Saturday’s game is postponed.
The Rapids are concerned about endangering the safety of fans driving to the game, according to a club official. The worst part of the storm is expected to pass through around Saturday’s scheduled kickoff, with high winds and heavy snowfall restricting visibility.

The league, the Rapids and the Union are expected to make a final decision on a 10 am ET conference call Saturday morning.
Sunday’s forecast in the Denver area calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 40s.
