Vancouver Whitecaps striker Kenny Miller has been called into the Scottish national team by head coach Gordon Strachan for World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Serbia later this month.

The Scots host Wales at Hampden Park in Glasgow on March 22 before traveling to Novi Sad, Serbia, for a March 26 match at Karadjordje Stadium on what promises to be a daunting road trip.

Miller, one of just three players on the roster based outside the United Kingdom, will miss at least one Whitecaps game, with Vancouver visiting the Houston Dynamo on March 23. He should return in time for the club's following contest against Chivas USA on March 30.

Four games into the current European qualifying stage, Scotland are behind the eight-ball as they sit in last place in UEFA Group A with two points from four matches. Belgium and Croatia are the runaway leaders in the group, tied at the top on 10 points while Serbia sit in third place with four points.

The top finisher in each of the nine groups earns a berth in Brazil 2014, while the top eight second-place finishers take part in two-legged playoffs.
