AMSTERDAM – Despite a top-shelf outing from netminder Brad Guzan, Aston Villa remained in the Premier League bottom three with a 1-0 home loss to Manchester City on Monday.

The Sky Sports Man of the Match rang up six saves, most of them of the highlight-reel variety. Guzan had made four of his stops by the time Ciaran Clark's gaffe facilitated a Carlos Tévez strike on the edge of halftime.

Early on, Guzan calmly escorted a Jack Rodwell drive away from his top corner before pushing a Pablo Zabaleta blast onto the post. The US international also spectacularly rejected a Tévez curler, only to have the striker expertly finish off a surprise two-on-one box breach by City. Late in the game, Guzan also tipped a Yaya Touré shot onto the woodwork.

The loss kept Villa in the drop zone, mere goal differential behind Wigan.
