1 Day to MLS Cup

As the MLS season approaches, MLSsoccer.com marks each passing day with a different statistic, observation or talking point, setting the stage for March 2.

1 – There can be only one MLS Cup champion in 2013

The 2013 MLS season kicks off this weekend. Here at MLSsoccer.com, we're getting ready the only way we know how: making predictions and arguing. On Monday, we predicted the Golden Boot winner. On Tuesday, we did Goalkeeper of the Year. Wednesday, we got into it about who will win the Supporters' Shield. Thursday was all about the MVP. Today, on the eve of the 2013 MLS season, we pick the grand daddy: MLS Cup winners.

Houston Dynamo

After two straight years of coming up short in the title game, several shrewd offseason pickups will ensure this veteran squad gets the job done in 2013.

Seattle Sounders

Look, I pick the Sounders every year because Sigi’s due. The guy’s won everywhere he’s been, and that’s not going to just stop now.

D.C. United

D.C. are a team perfect for the one-month grind of the MLS Cup playoffs. When Ben Olsen has them clicking, they’re awfully tough to beat.

LA Galaxy

It'd be crazy to think they could do it again, right? You'd be crazy to have to think they couldn't.

New York Red Bulls
With all their talent and a shored up (and healthy) backline, I just have a feeling it's all going to come together. Finally.

Houston Dynamo

Houston have came oh-so-close in the last two years, and with a full season of Boniek García and the continued development of Will Bruin, this playoff-hardened team will finally realize their MLS Cup dream.

Jason Saghini
Director of Video

Seattle Sounders
Don't have the burden of CCL in second half of season, solid defensively and they have a lot of attacking talent to push them over the edge.

Kristel Valencia
Editor, FutbolMLS.com

Houston Dynamo

Dom’s teams play with a commitment. They love him, and they play with heart. Not the most skilled team but they know how to pressure and push in key moments.

Andrew Wiebe
Editor

D.C. United

After a few down years, they're trending upward again. They nearly forced their way into the MLS Cup last season without a healthy Dwayne De Rosario and Chris Pontius. They'll get the job done this time around.
