21 Days 'til MLS: Can Shalrie make it to the promised land?

30 Days: Shalrie Joseph (21)

As the MLS season approaches, MLSsoccer.com marks each passing day with a different statistic, observation or talking point, setting the stage for March 2.

21 – All-time playoff games played by Shalrie Joseph

If you're Chivas USA's Shalrie Joseph and you're eyeing a new club, there's really only one thing you're looking for: Does the club have a realistic chance at MLS Cup?

The 10-year MLS veteran has played exactly 21 postseason matches over his league career, including three straight MLS Cup appearances with the New England Revolution (2005-2007). But the former All-Star has always come out on the short end. And at the age of 34 and in the twilight of his career, the clock is ticking if he's going to get that first ring.

For 48 hours it looked like that the new club could be the Seattle Sounders, who could've used a player with Joseph's personality and experience given they continually come up small in the big games of the postseason. But an apparent lack of fitness has seemingly closed that door for now. .

The Grenada international could have had his old number back in Seattle, too. Joseph used to wear the No. 21 jersey with New England -- his Twitter handle is @ShalrieJoseph21 -- and since Cordell Cato's departure from the Sounders, that number was available.

But the Goats and Joseph now need to look elsewhere.
