Shea to Stoke back on? FCD say winger en route to Europe

Brek Shea represented the USA at the youth ranks. Is he ready for the next level?

The will-he-or-won't-he transfer saga of Brek Shea took another turn on Monday night as FC Dallas released a cryptic statement suggesting a move across the Atlantic before the transfer window shuts could still be very much in the cards.

"We have received interest from a number of European clubs regarding Brek Shea," the statement read. "Brek is traveling there this evening and, as a result, he will not be in attendance at training tomorrow. Currently, there is no deal in place with any club and we have no further details at this time."

Soccer By Ives reported later on Monday evening that the long rumored deal to sell Shea to English Premier League club Stoke City was back on, with FC Dallas and Stoke supposedly agreeing to a fee and Shea set to undergo a physical.

As of last week, that potential move had looked off for the time being, as Stoke City manager Tony Pulis said the 22-year-old Texas native would not be coming to the Northern English city for a trial.

The US international trained in full for FC Dallas on Monday, roughly two months after undergoing foot surgery to remove a sesamoid bone from his right foot. The recovery time was estimated at 12-14 weeks.
