American Exports preview: Holden, Ream set for Cup clash

Stuart Holden in his Bolton return

AMSTERDAM – The weekend card for Americans playing in Europe includes several FA Cup tilts, with Stuart Holden expected to see action as Bolton host an expat derby against Tim Howard's Everton.

All times listed in ET.

ENGLISH FA CUP

Clint Dempsey, Brad Friedel – Tottenham at Leeds United (Saturday, 9 am on Fox Soccer)

It's unclear whether Deuce will start. He has four goals in January, plus six with three assists in 17 career FA Cup contests. Friedel, who has often had trouble with Leeds, is expected to man the line for Spurs. The veteran is 2-4 against the Whites, and has dropped two of three at Elland Road. Tottenham have also traditionally struggled in that building, but they'll arrive this time with a seven-game unbeaten run in the series.

Stuart Holden, Tim Ream (BW), Tim Howard (EVE) – Bolton vs. Everton (Saturday, 10 am)

Ream's warming form should see him remain in the lineup, while Holden is slated to get more comeback minutes against a regional rival featuring one of Bolton's least favorite goaltenders. Howard holds a 9-3-3 record against Wanderers, including a goal scored, four wins at the Reebok and seven clean sheets. However, Bolton have won two of the past three meetings.

ITALIAN SERIE A

Michael Bradley – AS Roma at Bologna (Sunday, 6:30 am on RAI)

The US midfielder will make his 16th straight start when the Romans head north. Bradley is looking for his first win against Bologna, after gaining just one point from two encounters as a member of Chievo last season. Roma fell at home against Bologna in the September meeting, but have posted three consecutive clean-sheet victories at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

BELGIUM JUPILER LEAGUE

Sacha Kljestan – Anderlecht at Lokeren (Saturday, noon)

The former Chivas USA man will take his usual place in the middle of the park as the champs try to extend their league lead to double digits in the home of Belgium's current third-place team. Kljestan has a goal in four unbeaten league games against Lokeren, including a pair of away wins. He also has five assists since the start of November. Anderlecht come in with 10 league wins in a row, 12 straight against domestic opponents at home and no losses at Lokeren since 1998.

TURKISH SÜPER LIG

Maurice Edu – Bursaspor at Istanbul BB (Saturday, 9:30 am)

The defensive midfielder has fast become a fan favorite in Turkey, where Bursaspor can climb as high as third with a road win this weekend. The Green Crocodiles are undefeated in their last eight league matches and in six straight away from home. They also romped to a 4-0 triumph in this fixture last season, which stretched their shutout string at Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı to 330 minutes.
