Report: FC Dallas winger Shea not heading to Stoke City

Brek Shea of FC Dallas celebrates his goal against RSL

FC Dallas star Brek Shea won't be headed to England after all, according to reports across the pond on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Stoke City manager Tony Pulis had indicated that Shea was set to arrive at the club for a week-long trial with the end goal of securing his transfer to the English Premier League.

But BBC Radio Stoke is reporting that he "will not be joining Stoke City this month," citing injury.

Shea kicked off preseason camp with FC Dallas on Monday, although he did not participate in full training. He underwent foot surgery to remove a sesamoid bone from his right foot in November, and the estimated recovery time was thought to be 12-14 weeks, according to an official release from the club.

FC Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman did not acknowledge any potential trials at Stoke when he addressed the topic at the start of camp.

"For us today, Brek is a member of FC Dallas and I think that any other comments I make at this time would not be correct,” Hyndman said on Monday.
FC Dallas reiterated Hyndman's stance when contacted by MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday. The club issued the following statement:

"As is typical of most international transfer windows, FC Dallas has received inquiries about certain members of the team. And at this time, there is nothing further to report. What we can say is that everyone is here and focused on training camp and preparing for the 2013 regular season.”
