American Exports: Stoke loan Edu to Turkey's Bursaspor

Maurice Edu signs his loan deal with Bursaspor

AMSTERDAM – Fresh Bursaspor loan catch Maurice Edu says he is ready to step into the action as soon as Saturday's Süper Lig visit from Kayserispor.

The 26-year-old will spend the rest of the season with the Green Crocodiles after completing his medical on Thursday. Edu had made just one EPL appearance for Stoke City, who snared him away from Rangers last summer. Despite that stat, the California native says he's ready to play right away.

"That was the whole idea behind this move," Edu told reporters at his Thursday unveiling. "I didn't feature the way I planned at Stoke. I want to come here and make an impact."

The midfielder also revealed he was given good word about the club from fellow US international Jozy Altidore, who spent the back half of the 2010-11 campaign on loan to Bursaspor.

"He said the support here was tremendous, so I'm looking forward to it," stated Edu.

Bursaspor currently stand sixth in the table at the halfway marker, just three points out of a Europa league slot and six back of a Champions league invite. The club will carry a seven-game league unbeaten run into Saturday's contest.
