Fredy Montero announced his departure from the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday via a note posted on Twitter.
The Sounders have yet to make a formal announcement regarding Montero’s future, but this is a pretty clear indication that the 25-year-old will be joining Colombian club Millonarios on some kind of loan, likely for one year with an option to buy. Montero’s father confirmed those rumors on Tuesday.
In his farewell note, Montero thanks the Sounders for “four unforgettable years” and thanked GM Adrian Hanauer for his “unconditional support.” He also left open the door for a possible return to the Sounders, calling Seattle his second home and promising to return one day.
