Toronto FC’s offseason overhaul continued on Monday when the club announced that Bob de Klerk will not return as technical manager for the 2013 season.
TFC and de Klerk mutually agreed to part ways after the Dutchman served less than a year on the job as the man in charge of the club’s technical program and advance and international scouting, as well as serving as the technical conduit between the first team and TFC Academy program.
“We want to thank Bob for his commitment to the club over the past two seasons,” Toronto FC president and general manager Kevin Payne said in a statement. “As we enter a new era for the club, we all agreed that this move made sense for all parties. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Originally brought on as the first assistant coach under former head coach Aron Winter and as assistant technical director in January 2011, de Klerk was named technical manager last May. He spent nine years working in the Ajax youth system before moving to Major League Soccer.
