American Exports: Torres to miss Tigres opener with injury

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – After a grueling preseason, José Torres learned his official Tigres UANL debut is on ice on the day the Clausura 2013 begins.


The Texan midfielder suffered an injury to his left thigh that will keep him out for an estimated two weeks, the club announced via Twitter on Friday.

The news is a bitter blow for Torres, who featured as a starter in central midfield alongside Carlos Salcido in preseason friendlies. The injury is yet another that comes right before a US national team camp for Torres, who has been unusually unlucky in that respect over the past 12 months.
