Dutchman te Kloese named Chivas USA sporting director

Dennis te Kloese - with Chivas USA

Chivas USA have a new sporting director, and, yes, it's another Dutchman.

On Christmas Eve, the rebuilding club named Dennis te Kloese the sporting director for both Chivas USA and the parent club in Mexico, Chivas de Guadalajara. Te Kloese will be officially introduced on Wednesday, Dec. 26 in Guadalajara.

Te Kloese has nearly a decade of experience in North American soccer, and is familiar with MLS from his days of working with former Chivas USA manager Hans Westerhof. He ran the Chivas USA developmental teams as the club's director of football for several years, and has also spent time with Tigres UANL and the Mexican youth national team set-up, according to TheGoatParade.com.

How his duties will be split between the two clubs remains, as yet, undefined. Though given his extensive experience on both sides of the border, Chivas co-owners Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes seem to be making good on their promise of strengthening the ties between the two clubs.

Earlier this month, Chivas USA hired José Luis Sánchez Solá, better known as "Chelís," as the club's new head coach. Chelís promised, in his initial interview, to infuse the club with a more Mexican identity.
