American Exports: Cherundolo's Reds routed by Dortmund

Steve Cherundolo with Hannover

AMSTERDAM – The final two Americans left in the DfB-Pokal draw were ousted on Wednesday, with Steve Cherundolo and Hannover 96 knocked out cold by a 5-1 defeat at current holders Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds skipper's 39th-minute yellow card foul teed up Mario Götze for the BvB third, which also accounted for the middle goal in his hat trick. Cherundolo departed after 67 minutes as Hannover dropped their fourth straight result in Dortmund.

Elsewhere, Bobby Wood and 1860 Munich took their exit with a 3-0 loss at VfL Bochum. The forward worked a quiet 69 minutes as the Lions suffered their first defeat since his return from injury.
