AMSTERDAM – Several Americans laced up for Sunday action overseas, with Clint Dempsey and Tottenham Hotspur climbing into fourth place in the English Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Swansea City at White Hart Lane.

The US star departed after 70 decent minutes of play as Spurs got back on track after last week's late collapse at Everton. With Brad Friedel watching from the dugout, Tottenham posted their fifth straight home win across all competitions.

Elsewhere, Sebastian Lletget went unused as West Ham United battled to a 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

Over in Serie A, Michael Bradley worked a lukewarm 68 minutes as AS Roma fell 1-0 away to former employers Chievo in a heavy fog. Despite having their five-game win streak snapped, the visitors held firm in sixth place.

A level down in the 2.Bundesliga, 1860 Munich attacker Bobby Wood came on for 32 active minutes in a 1-1 draw against guests Dynamo Dresden. Having now tied three straight games by the same score, the Lions nudged up a rung to sixth.

Finally, in Belgium's Jupiler League, Sacha Kljestan went the distance as Anderlecht edged visiting OH Leuven 2-1. The first-place Mauves maintained their six-point cushion by registering their seventh consecutive league victory.
