After a pair of losses knocked Atiba Hutchinson and PSV Eindhoven out of first place in the Dutch Eredivisie, one win got them right back to the top. They got the train back on the rails on Sunday as Hutchinson played the full 90 minutes in PSV’s 3-0 over FC Twente, who had been leading PSV by a point.
Over in the English Premier League, Simeon Jackson had to watch from the bench as his Norwich City side registered a thrilling 4-3 win at Swansea City. Jackson then came on as an 80th-minute sub in the Canaries' League Cup match against Aston Villa, but three late goals condemned them to a 4-1 defeat.
In England’s League One, Iain Hume and Marcus Haber are both in the running for promotion to the Championship as they approach the season’s halfway mark.
Hume’s Doncaster Rovers remain tied for first place after a 1-1 draw at Swindon Town last Saturday, with the forward going the full 90 minutes and picking up a yellow card.
Haber helped Stevenage get back into the promotion playoff positions with a 2-0 win over Hartlepool United. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute with his third goal of the season, putting a header off the post and converting his own rebound as Stevenage moved up to fifth place, just three points back of first.
In Germany, it was another week and another loss for Marcel de Jong and Augsburg FC.
On Saturday, Augsburg lost their 10th of 16 league games this season with a 2-0 setback to giants Bayern Munich. De Jong played the whole game as Augsburg remained tied for last and in the automatic relegation zone, four points adrift of a playoff spot.
Over at Eintracht Frankfurt, Olivier Occéan still has just one goal on the season, but that didn’t matter as he played all 90 minutes as Frankfurt won for the first time in three games when they beat Werder Bremen 4-1 this past Saturday.

Frankfurt moved back into fourth place and a Champions League spot, and only their inferior goal difference keeps them behind third-place Borussia Dortmund, who also have 27 points.
In the 2.Bundesliga, a pair of Canadians came up against each other as Kevin McKenna of FC Köln and Randy Edwini-Bonsu of Eintracht Braunschweig faced off.
McKenna started and played the entire game while Edwini-Bonsu came on in the 76th minute as the teams played to a 2-2 stalemate. Braunschweig continue to hold a two-point lead atop the table while Köln sit in 10th.
In Turkey, Sivasspor and goalkeeper Milan Borjan lost their second straight league game on Saturday, a 3-1 decision to league leaders Galatasaray, and dropped down to 10th place in the Süper Lig.
However, Sivasspor did get things back on track on Tuesday with a win in the Turkish Cup against Gaziantepspor. Borjan was in goal and kept a clean sheet for 120 minutes, as Sivasspor needed an extra-time winner to break the scoreless draw and advance to the group stage of the tournament, which will feature eight teams.
In Uruguay, Lucas Cavallini’s Apertura season and loan deal with Juventud de las Piedras came to an end with a 2-0 loss to El Tanque Sisley on Sunday. Juventud finished the season with a pair of losses, ending up ninth in the 16-team league.
Cavallini finished his loan deal from Nacional with three goals in 11 appearances.
In Cyprus, AEK Larnaca and midfielder Issey Nakajima-Farran lost for the second time in three games on Sunday. Larnaca are in third place, seven points back of league leaders Anothorsis after losing 2-1 to Doxa. Nakajima-Farran came off the bench in the 64th minute.
In Portugal, midfielder Pedro Pacheco put in 74 minutes of work on Sunday for Santa Clara in their 3-2 loss to Porto II. Santa Clara dropped to eighth place on 25 points in the Liga de Honra, Portugal’s second flight.
