AMSTERDAM – Potential summer free agent Bobby Wood is deep into extension talks with 1860 Munich, according to the club.

Reports in Germany over the weekend claimed a fresh deal for the former US Under-20 national team attacker had been signed and sealed, but a club source told MLSsoccer.com on Monday that the parties were in active negotiations.

Wood, 20, who has a goal in four appearances for 1860 since returning from a long injury layoff, came up through the youth ranks of the club after moving from California to Germany at the age of 13.

He has quickly worked his way into the Lions lineup after missing eight months recovering from knee surgery. Currently six points out of the promotion playoff spot, Wood & Co. get back to business with a Sunday visit from Dynamo Dresden.
