American Exports: Chelsea thump Parkhurst out of UCL

Michael Parkhurst with FC Nordjaelland

AMSTERDAM – It was a rough Wednesday night for Michael Parkhurst and FC Nordsjælland, who bowed out of the Champions League with a 6-1 loss at defending champions Chelsea in the Group E finale.

Due to injuries, the US right back was pushed into central defense, where he picked up a yellow card and struggled to contain Blues star Fernando Torres.

Parkhurst was beaten by the Spain hit man on Chelsea's winner just before the break, and then failed to cut off the forward's cutback supply line on the home side's fourth goal near the hour.

FCN finished the tournament in the basement of Group E with a single point from six matches and a goal differential of minus-18.
