AMSTERDAM – Michael Parkhurst and FC Nordsjælland made a valiant effort in Champions League play on Tuesday, holding defending Serie A champions Juventus to a 1-1 draw at Parken.

The US right back held his own against the Italian giants as the hosts notched their first ever Champions League point. Mikkel Beckmann put the home side up with a sterling free kick five minutes after intermission, but Mirko Vucinic leveled matters with a close-range finish nine minutes from time.

Though still bottom of Group E, the Wild Tigers pulled to within three points of second-place Chelsea.

Meanwhile, in England's Championship, Zak Whitbread got away with a 52nd-minute penalty kick foul as Leicester City stayed top with a 1-0 win over visiting Brighton & Hove Albion. The Foxes moved to a perfect six-for-six at home this season to remain at the top of the table, on goal differential ahead of Cardiff City.

Bolton defender Tim Ream went the distance in a 2-2 draw at Wolverhampton. A spectacular last-gasp volley from Mark Davies lifted Wanderers up to 15th place.

Will Packwood watched on from the away dugout as Birmingham City clawed back from three down for a 3-3 draw at Millwall.
