Save of the Week

Double save by SKC's Nielsen earns Save of the Week award

Jimmy Nielsen celebrates

Fans know a good deal when they see it.

This week they were all over the two-for-one offered by Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, who took home the Save of the Week award for Week 31 for his early double-save on Columbus Crew forward Jairo Arrieta.

The award is the 35-year-old's fifth of the season and he only trails Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando (seven) for most on the year. Nielsen's last honor came back in Week 19.

In Week 31 he beat out Portland's Donovan Ricketts, who also needed the help of the woodwork on his stop. The lone non-goalkeeper this week, FC Dallas' Hernán Pertúz, came in third for his acrobatic clearance.
