American Exports: Diskerud due to return from thigh injury

Mix Diskerud celebrates his first Rosenborg goal

AMSTERDAM – Having missed Rosenborg's past two matches with a thigh strain, midfielder Mikkel Diskerud is expected back in the lineup when they return from the international break with a league visit from Sandnes Ulf on Oct. 19.

The US playmaker sat on the sidelines for two matches over the last week, a Europa League group-phase loss to Bayer Leverkusen and a Tippeligaen win at Odd Grenland. While the injury was not serious, the club wanted Diskerud fully fit for the important upcoming schedule.

"Mix is back in full training from Monday next week," RBK press officer Frode Søraas told MLSsoccer.com. "He will be ready for our next match."

Since arriving from Stabæk in August, Diskerud has hit for two goals in nine games across all competitions. His impact on second-place Rosenborg has been overtly noticable, with leading Norwegian daily VG doling out an average rating for six league outings that would stand atop the league chart.

After hosting relegation bait Sandnes and Europa League foe Metalist Kharkiv the following Thursday, the Troll Kids will face a title showdown away to defending champs and leaders Molde FK on Oct. 28. Rosenborg currently stand two points off the top in pursuit of their 23rd Norwegian crown.
