American Exports preview: Tijuana's Yanks eye first place

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Club Tijuana have been the big surprise of the Liga MX season so far. And on Sunday, Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona & Co. will get their biggest test yet as los Xolos host Toluca at Estadio Caliente in a battle between the top two teams in the league (9 pm ET, Univision Deportes).


Another American hopeful of a call-up from Jurgen Klinsmann next week is Michael Orozco Fiscal whose San Luis also plays Sunday, away at Jaguares (6 pm ET, ESPN Deportes, Azteca America).


USMNT regular Jose Torres should be in action on Saturday as Pachuca host Club León in the Estadio Hidalgo in need of a victory to stay with the playoff-chasing pack (8 pm ET, TeleFutura).


At the same time is Puebla’s trip to Jonathan Bornstein’s Tigres UANL, with DaMarcus Beasley hoping to recover from a rib injury in time to be able to start for the Camoteros (8 pm ET, Univision Deportes).


Also on Saturday, Herculez Gomez and his Santos Laguna team are heavy favorites to take the three points when they travel to Querétaro to play the Liga MX’s last-placed team (6 pm ET, Univision Deportes 2).


A level down in the Liga de Ascenso, Sonny Guadarrrama and Isaac Acuña’s Mérida face La Piedad on Sunday (5 pm ET).


Marco Vidal’s Lobos BUAP are in action Friday, hosting Universidad de Guadalajara (5 pm ET).


Further south, Moises Hernandez’s Comunicaciones play at home against Marquense in Guatemala’s top flight on Saturday (8 pm ET).
