American Exports: Altidore logs solo goal, assist in AZ draw

Jozy Altidore celebrates yet another goal for AZ Alkmaar

AMSTERDAM – Jozy Altidore stayed hot on Sunday, scoring a spectacular goal and adding an assist on the late equalizer as AZ Alkmaar played out a wild 3-3 draw with visiting RKC Waalwijk.

Midway through the opening frame, the US striker put his side back in front at 2-1 by wiggling through four defenders on the dribble before slamming home inside the near post. The hosts would eventually trail late until Altidore's knockdown was buried by Adam Maher.

Altidore now has a league-best eight goals and three assists through seven Eredivisie rounds. Meanwhile, AZ slipped to 10th place despite extending their home unbeaten run in league play to 26 games.

Across the water in England's Premier League, Brad Guzan made three saves to help Aston Villa fight back for a 1-1 derby share with West Bromwich Albion.

The netminder was at his best to keep out a tricky Zoltan Gera curler in the second half. Eric Lichaj went unused by the Villans, who have yet to lost at home this season with Guzan in goal.
