AMSTERDAM – Michael Parkhurst and Danish holders FC Nordsjælland came up short on their Champions League debuts, with the visitors dropping a 2-0 decision to Ukrainian power Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
The US international started very brightly and gave a solid account of himself in the match, which was decided by a pair of goals from in-form Shakhtar striker Henrik Mkhitaryan.
Parkhurst & Co. will get their next chance at a Champions League duck breaker when defending champs Chelsea visit Farum Park on October 2.
