Castrol Weekly Top 20: Look who's back atop of his game

Castrol Index - CJ Sapong (Week 28)

WATCH: C.J. Sapong equalizes late vs. Houston

Welcome back, C.J. Sapong.

With the starting forward job firmly in hand after the long-term injury to his Sporting Kansas City teammate Teal Bunbury, Sapong has learned what it feels like to score again. His late equalizer and overall performance against the Houston Dynamo last Friday earned him the top spot in the Castrol Weekly Top 20 as the best-rated player in MLS over the last week (read all about the Castrol methodology here).

It had been nearly three months since the 2011 Rookie of the Year last found the back of the net. And during that dry spell he was in and out of Sporting's lineup. Now he's determined not to give up his place.

East-leading Sporting KC also contributed four other players to the Top 20, taking more than a fifth of the overall standings. One of their direct competitors for the Eastern Conference title, the New York Red Bulls, also figured prominently in this week's table with three players, including DP Thierry Henry (No. 2)

We'll see if Sporting KC's dominance in the Castrol Top 20 reflects in Wednesday night's massive matchup between the two clubs at Red Bull Arena in a key clash with Supporters' Shield and playoff seeding implications.
