Poll: What is the best forward combination in MLS?

Kenny Cooper and Thierry Henry of the New York Red Bulls

What is the best forward combo in MLS?

We hinted at it over the weekend, but the debate continues: Which forward duo is the best in MLS?

Is it the LA partnership of Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan leading the charge for a resurgent Galaxy, who are looking more and more like their MLS Cup 2011-winning selves? Yes, we know Donovan is not a traditional striker, but he's producing like one. He and Keane have combined for 20 goals and 17 assists so far in 2012.

How about New York's tandem up front, with Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper? The Red Bulls have ridden them all campaign to the tune of 25 goals and nine assists, and they're one point outside of first place in the East.

Then there's the current Supporters' Shield leadering San Jose, who have been led by Golden Boot frontrunner Chris Wondolowski. Combined with regular starter Steven Lenhart, the Quakes pair have combined for 26 goals and six assists. While Alan Gordon actually has one more goal this season than Lenhart  (there's a scary thought for opposing defenses), the regular starting forwards for San Jose are a handful.

Perhaps no one is in better form right now than Seattle's Eddie Johnson, who now has eight goals in his last nine games for the Sounders. Despite coming off the bench more than he's used to, Johnson's strike partner Fredy Montero has far from faded away. He and Johnson have racked up 19 goals — good enough for 58 percent of their team goalscoring total — to go along with six assists.

And finally, it's impossible to count out the forward production from the East's leading team. Behind the league's best defense in terms of goals allowed, Sporting KC haven't needed to outscore their opponents very often. That said, 14 goals and five assists from Kei Kamara and Teal Bunbury have been more than enough to give SKC valuable points at the right time to continue cranking out wins.
