AMSTERDAM – Rangers midfielder Alejandro Bedoya will travel to Helsingborg on Friday in hopes of completing a transfer to the defending Swedish champs Helsingborg, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

A source confirmed that the deal has been agreed to in principle, with the US international slated to undergo a medical exam upon arrival. Free to leave Rangers after the club's dissolution and instant rebirth as a new organization, Bedoya has also entertained summer interest from Belgian giants Standard Liège, as well as from clubs in Denmark and France.

After arriving from Örebro last summer, Bedoya fought through a rash of injuries to work 12 Scottish Premier League matches for second-place Rangers last season.

Helsingborg, who are currently in sixth place through 17 Allsvenskan games, seven points off the top spot, will be in the unseeded half of the Champions League playoff-round draw on Friday. They will face one of Sacha Klestan's Anderlecht, FC Basel, Celtic, Dinamo Zagreb or BATE Borisov for a place in the group phase.
