American Exports: Boyd, Rapid go quietly in Vienna derby

Terrence Boyd with Rapid Vienna

AMSTERDAM – It was a rough Sunday for Americans in Europe, with Terrence Boyd and Rapid Vienna suffering a galling 3-0 home loss to derby foes Austria Vienna.

The US striker worked a quiet 90 minutes as the Green-Whites slipped from first place to fifth through three rounds.

Heading up to Denmark, halftime sub Charlie Davies went close to a late equalizer as fifth-place Randers FC fell 2-1 at FC Midtjylland.

The fresh recruit was set up for a golden chance to tie the game with 20 minutes left, only to drag his effort inches wide of the post.

Finally, Brøndby skipper Clarence Goodson saw yellow for the third straight game as the early strugglers came up on the short end of a 3-1 decision at AGF Aarhus.
