American Exports: Davies subs on in another Randers win

Charlie Davies with Randers

Charlie Davies has still yet to score for his new, Danish club, Randers, but he did sub on for the second match in a row, a 2-1 win over AGF Aarhus.

Davies checked on in the 71st minute to help secure the three points after Lasse Rise and Ronnie Schwartz staked the hosts to a lead in the 49th and 66th minute, respectively. The win sees Randers climb up to 3rd place in the Danish Superliga.

One of the clubs Randers leapfrogged in the standings is Michael Parkhurst’s Nordsjaelland, who could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Odense.

The US international picked up a yellow card in the 75th minute and was subbed off three minutes later. Coincidence or not, Odense equalized three minutes after Parkhurst departed, leaving the hosts in 4th place.

In Norway, there was a mixed day for two Yanks in action. Goalkeeper Steve Clark conceded two goals, and his Honefoss side were down 2-1 in the second half. But he did not allow a third, and the home side pulled out a 3-2 victory capped off by Costa Rican defender Heiner Mora’s 73rd-minute strike.

Honefoss remain in 4th place, two points out of the Eliteserien’s Europa League spots.

Defender Sean Cunningham and Stabaek have no shot at a spot in Europe next year. Sitting alone in last place, they’re just hoping not to get relegated.

A 3-1 loss at Aalesund won’t help their cause, but Cunningham did go 90 minutes in the Stabaek backline.
