American Exports: Boyd brace highlights Rapid's opener

Scotland's Andy Webster chases USA's Terence Boyd.

AMSTERDAM – Both Americans in league action across the pond on Saturday found the net, with Rapid Vienna debutant Terrence Boyd score twice to run away with Man of the Match honors from a 4-0 rout of opening day guests Wacker Innsbruck.

The young US international opened his Austrian account just four minutes in by applying the final touch to Rapid's first attack of the game. Ten minutes after the break, Boyd added his first pro assist by squaring unselfishly for teammate Christopher Drazan to score the home side's third.

Finally, moments before departing on 73 minutes, Boyd accepted a fine slip pass from captain Steffen Hofmann to slot his second goal of the day. The clean sheet victory was Rapid's fourth in a row in Austrian Bundesliga play dating back to last season. They jumped out to an instant league lead.

In Norway, halftime sub Josh Gatt got Molde FK back in it with his fourth goal of the season as the Tippeligaen champs fell 2-1 at home to Viking. Sloppy defending at the back allowed the young speedster to cut the away lead in half from the goalmouth shortly after entering the match.

However, Gatt suffered a leg injury shortly thereafter and was removed despite Molde being out of substitutions with 22 minutes to play.
