Once again, Danny Koevermans showed his goalscoring touch and, once again, it led to another result for Toronto FC.
Koevermans got the tying goal in the 31st minute of a 1-1 draw at FC Dallas on Wednesday night with a nifty touch on a pass from Eric Avila. He also scored the equalizer in the sixth minute of a 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls last Saturday at BMO Field.
“He's got a ridiculous eye for goal and a knack for getting on the end of things,” said TFC head coach Paul Mariner, who was a striker of note himself for England. “You can see the work he does on the ball and off the ball. He's a special player. He's a goal scorer.

“With a lot of young players, they try and smash it into the back of the net, but Danny just guides it over the line. That's a goal scorer. It doesn't matter if the net bulges, it just matters if you can get it over the line.”
Koevermans has scored six goals in TFC’s past five games, during which Toronto have collected four draws and a win for their best stretch of a season that started so poorly. His latest goal, an improvised flick in front of a crowded net, will likely serve as a symbol for his revitalized side.
“I was thinking about shooting, but then I saw Danny,” Avila said. “It was good, I cut it inside and saw Danny and he was able to get it in.”
“Eric put the ball in and [goalkeeper Kevin] Hartman thought he was going to grab it, but I put my little toe against the ball and it went in the net,” Koevermans said. “It was perfect. It doesn't matter how you score. If you can put your feet, or your head or your nose on the ball and in the net, it's a goal. I don't mind how I score or how the team scores, as long we score it's fine with me.”
Koevermans has nine goals on the season, good for a four-way tie for third place in the MLS Golden Boot race.
“If you call it a hot streak, scoring in five straight games, then I hope I can do it in six and make it a hotter streak,” the 33-year-old former Dutch international said. “Of course, it feels good. Especially on the road, it's so difficult to get some points on the road in this league.
"Every point we can take on the road, we're happy," he continued. "Every team is hard to beat, and Dallas showed some good quality. We're just happy with the point.”
