The Playback: Relive the weekend's most exciting match

The Playback: Relive the most exciting match from Week 16

What was this weekend's best match?

In a weekend full of goals – 31 in nine matches – and high-stakes matchups, the final game on the schedule turned out to be the most compelling.

Sure, Portland and Seattle took their Cascadia rivalry to another level with a combative, passionate match at JELD-WEN Field, and San Jose and Real Salt Lake clashed with Supporters' Shield poll position on the line, but neither could match the combination of quality and drama on display at Red Bull Arena.

When Chris Pontius, a New York killer if there even was one, gave D.C. United a 1-0 lead just a minute into the match, it looked as if the visitors might take the Red Bulls behind the woodshed for a second time this season. But that wasn't in the cards, as Brandon Barklage led his new side to a 3-2 win against his former side. And that was with Thierry Henry on the bench for most the game.

Now, the Red Bulls are tied with United at the top of the Eastern Conference with a game in hand, glowing from a result that had those watching on NBC Sports Network clamoring for more.

All that was more than enough to convince the MLSsoccer.com editors to vote the Red Bulls' victory the most entertaining game of Week 16.
