MONTREAL – The good news for the Impact’s Italian trio: Their national team made it to the quarterfinals of Euro 2012. The bad news: Two of them will have time to watch Montreal's next game at home because of injuries.
Defender Matteo Ferrari (above) will be out for four to six weeks with a right quad injury, while the Impact confirmed on Tuesday that forward Bernardo Corradi would undergo an MRI test on Wednesday after injuring his knee in training on Monday. The club declined to confirm the timeline of Corradi’s recovery, though reports of the player’s season coming to an end have been surfacing.

Ferrari, a mainstay in the Impact backline this season – and dubbed an “all-star player” by fellow defender Zarek Valentin on Monday – landed awkwardly while challenging Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Bryan Meredith for a header this past Saturday and immediately signaled to the bench for a substitution.
Shavar Thomas did well for the remaining 57 minutes and should be called upon at Chivas USA on Wednesday night (10:30 pm ET, watch LIVE online).
Corradi, for his part, left the Impact’s Monday training session on crutches and seemed in significant pain as he made his way to the dressing room. Head coach Jesse Marsch then explained that the 36-year-old striker had “twisted his knee a little bit,” but that he was hopeful the injury was not serious.
The news of Corradi’s injury comes at a tricky moment, five days after the Impact announced they had reached a verbal agreement with their top scorer to ensure he would stay in Montreal until the end of the 2012 season.
