Tuesday night's US Open Cup fourth round provided more than its fair share of late dramatics, including a stoppage-time winer, another extra-time scoring outburst, and the three-time defending champs bringing Cinderella's ball to a painful end.

Carolina RailHawks 1, Chivas USA 2 – The Rojiblancos got the decider via a Juan Pablo Ángel penalty kick deep in second-half stoppage time to advance past the host RailHawks. Juan Agudelo opened the scoring in the first half, heading Chivas in front, but the hosts got an equalizer from Mike Palacio with 11 minutes left. That left time for Ángel's heroics as the veteran drew a hand ball from Carolina's Gale Agbossoumonde, then coolly converted to send his side into the quarterfinals, where they'll host USL Pro side Charlotte Eagles. Michigan Bucks 1, Dayton Dutch Lions 2 (AET) – Joel DeLass' penalty kick in the first half of overtime stood up as the Dayton Dutch Lions of the USL Pro became the first Ohio-based team other than the Columbus Crew to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open Cup in more than 20 years. Dayton will face Sporting KC in the next round.
Harrisburg City Islanders 3, New York Red Bulls 1 (AET) – Former Red Bull Sainey Touray got a bit of revenge against his former team, scoring the opener and the game-winner as Harrisburg knocked RBNY out of the Open Cup for the second time in three seasons. Connor Lade got his second in two USOC games for the visitors, but Harrisburg proved too much in extra time. They'll face the Philadelphia Union, their MLS affiliate, in the quarters. More...
D.C. United 1, Philadelphia Union 2 (AET) – Rookie Antoine Hoppenot played hero on Tuesday night, scoring in the first frame of extra time to give the Union the victory in an ill-tempered I-95 derby. Brian Carroll and Josh Wolff had traded goals late in the first half at the Maryland SoccerPlex, and a series of fine saves from both Bill Hamid and Zac MacMath provided the stage for Hoppenot's winner. Sporting Kansas City 2, Colorado Rapids 0 – A cruel first-half own-goal and a thumping second-half volley from Teal Bunbury proved the difference as Sporting advanced to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. The winner came after Aurélien Collin's header was saved by Colorado's Matt Pickens, then caromed off the post and Pickens' back before trickling into the net. San Antonio Scorpions 1, Charlotte Eagles 2 (AET) – El Paso, Dallas, now San Antonio – make that a clean sweep of road games in Texas for the USL Pro's Eagles. Mauricio Salles converted a penalty kick four minutes from the end of extra time after a hand ball by San Antonio in the box to send Charlotte into the quarterfinals, where they'll meet Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center.
Seattle Sounders 5, Cal FC 0 – Cal FC hung tough for a half, but an Osvaldo Alonso penalty in the 50th minute gave the hosts the lead, and the wheels came off for the upstarts soon after. Seattle poured it on in the second 45, finding net five times in total to bring the semipro side's Cinderella run to a crashing end at the Starfire Sports Complex. San Jose Earthquakes 1, Minnesota Stars 0 – The Earthquakes kept their late-game magic going, riding an 85th-minute Steven Lenhart header to a 1-0 win over the pesky Minnesota Stars of the NASL. The loss marks Minnesota's first of the season in any competitions, while it propels the Quakes – who were dominant, but wasteful in front of net – into the quarterfinals.
