San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Anthony Ampaipitakwong seems destined for a move abroad with reigning Thailand Premier League champs Buriram United.

And this weekend, an Earthquakes club spokesman confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that negotiations were ongoing for a transfer, but a deal has yet to be finalized.

Ampaipitakwong has not appeared for the Quakes in 2012 and played in 12 matches last year, including five starts. The former US Under-17 national team player helped Akron to their 2010 College Cup title and was selected 33rd overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.

If the deal is completed, the Dallas-area native would join a team that has grand ambitions. The club chairman has stated he wants his club to win the Asian Champions League in five years' time.

Buriram United currently stand in third place in the Thai Premier League with four games in hand on league leaders Muang Thong.
