Sometimes you might want a third option or the ability to choose "both," but that's not the point. The point is to present an either/or question and find out where people's opinions lie.
This or That: Supporter or Fan?
On the surface, obviously, the words "supporter" and "fan" are interchangeable. They both basically mean "someone who roots for a team."
But dig a little deeper, and a bit of differentiation appears. It's hard to define, but it seems like you know it when you feel it.
