Fans hail Beckerman strike as AT&T Goal of the Week

RSL's Kyle Beckerman slides by a pair of SJ defenders to score

When Kyle Beckerman starts something, he finishes it.

At least that's what happened against the San Jose Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium, where his 53rd-minute goal captured AT&T MLS Goal of the Week honors as voted on by the fans.

The Real Salt Lake captain won the ball at midfield and kicked off the attack before making a stealthy run down the heart of the field. He received the ball a few passes later and promptly danced around two defenders at the top of the SJ box before slotting home the momentary equalizer. RSL would go on to lose the match 3-1 in stoppage time.

Beckerman edged out the spectacular blast by Toronto FC's Reggie Lambe, who captured 27 percent of the vote. Omar Cummings (Colorado), Chris Pontius (D.C. United) and Camilo Sanvezzo (Vancouver) were practically in a dead heat for third place.

The ballot breakdown follows below.

1. Kyle Beckerman (RSL) 33%

2. Reggie Lambe (TOR) 27%

3. Omar Cummings (COL) 14%

4. Chris Pontius (DC) 14%

5. Camilo Sanvezzo (VAN) 13%
