WFC: 2012 World Football Challenge kicks off July 18

The World Football Challenge is back.


The summer series of international matches that has become a fixture on the North American soccer calendar, returns in 2012 with the first four clubs already confirming their participation: Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC.


The WFC 2012 calendar of events kicks off with the previously announced matchup between three-time defending US Open Cup champions Seattle and English FA Cup finalists Chelsea at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday, July 18. Packaged tickets for the event are available online (BUY TICKETS HERE).


Chelsea, who are in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, will also participate in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.


Three days later, Rogers Centre in Toronto will serve as the stage for the unprecedented matchup between MLS side Toronto FC and storied English club Liverpool FC, who make their return to the city after last visiting in 2004. Tickets for that match go on sale May 4.


The World Football Challenge is a joint partnership between MLS and sports and entertainment agency CAA Sports.


Additional clubs and matches are set to be revealed at a later date by event organizers.
