American Exports: Clark, Honefoss get another shutout

Honefoss goalkeeper Steve Clark

It was a slow Monday for Americans across the pond, as only three Yanks saw top flight action.

It all happened to come in the same match, a 2-0 win for Hønefoss at Stabæk in Norway’s Tippeligaen.

Youngster Sean Cunningham got the start in the hosts’ defense, which was protected by Ricardo Clark in defensive midfield. The visitors, meanwhile, were backstopped by Steve Clark, who grabbed the shutout on the day.

The Blue Ones continued their miserable start to the season, dropping their third on the trot and having scored just once in four. HBK, who returned to the top flight after a season in the Adeccoligaen, stay undefeated with two wins and three draws in five.

Elsewhere in Scandinavia both Baggio Husidic and Billy Schuler started in Hammarby’s 2-1 win at Umeå in the Swedish second tier. Schuler – who made his professional debut as a sub last week – went the distance up top and provided the game-winning assist.. Husidic marked the occasion with a goal in the 53rd minute from his midfield slot, albeit via a goalkeeping howler, before coming off in second-half stoppage.
